The Rolly Report
As I drove through the back roads, towards Bar River , last week, I noticed the trees showing signs of changing colours. This morning the school buses were back on their routes. Subtle, gentle signs of fall being upon us once again. It is my hope that the summer months were a time of renewal. September is here bringing a sense of new beginning. Both Bar River and Echo Bay U.C.W. groups are meeting once again at their usual times, ( Bar River the 1st Monday of the month... Echo Bay , the 1st Wednesday of the month). Our Sunday Schools are also starting up this month. To this, is the usual business of church work with meetings and special event planning. Mark your calendars for the upcoming events, and don't forget all the delicious “falls suppers” that are offered throughout the community. Take in and enjoy the fall colours and the various fall events that are part of our community.
Our Young people.
September 13 is Sundae Sunday - a morning of fun activities and fellowship followed by hotdogs and yummy sundaes for everyone. Hope to see you there! This year we will explore God's world with drama, stories, cooking, crafts and much more. There will be plenty of time to sit around the campfire, learning together.
Teens – what will be your next adventure? Give it some thought!
We are grateful that Leaside United Church , in Toronto , continues to support our Outreach projects financially. Earlier this summer their Outreach Committee sent our Outreach Committee another $500.00 to assist us in our endeavours. We are also thankful to the Laird Fair organization for its donation of canned goods; they will be added to our food cupboard. Anyone needing assistance can contact the church or call Cathy Bright, Vivian Hall or Lorna Greene.
Are You on PAR?
It seems that church expenses never go on holidays, but members do enjoy a break now and then. Pre-authorized remittance (PAR) allows you to equalize your giving, and makes for easier bookkeeping. Through PAR you can arrange to have an amount with which you are comfortable automatically withdrawn from your bank account, so your support continues even when you are unable to attend. When you are in church you simply put a reusable “PAR card” on the collection plate. Having a few more families on PAR would really help our church make ends meet, and simplify both budgeting and bookkeeping. If you are interested in PAR, please contact Susan Martineau at 248-2970.
It's that time of year again. Cheryl Frenette is again working hard to put together the Community Calendar. You can have your birthday, anniversary or any memorials put on to the calendar. Advertising spots are also available. The actual size is 11" X 21". Funds raised from the sale of the calendars are used for the good works of Echo Bay and Bar River United Churches . Renewals or new purchases can be made by phoning Cheryl at 248-2547 or by emailing her at … email@example.com
Note from the Treasurer
